DETAILS: The event is free and open to the public and will feature discussion of nuclear as a component of a diversified energy mix and perception issues commonly tied to nuclear energy. Tyrus W. Cobb, CEO of the Northern Nevada Network and former special assistant to President Ronald Reagan, will moderate the event. Panelists include:
o Charles Ebinger, UNLV Brookings Mountain West Scholar and director of energy security initiative, Brookings Institution
o Oliver Hemmers, executive director, Harry Reid Center for Environmental Studies, UNLV
o Dennis Pirages, Dean's Professor of Government, department of political science, UNLV
o John Scire, adjunct professor of energy security, UNR
The event will be hosted by the UNLV Institute for Security Studies (ISS), as part of its Energy Security Policy Initiative. The Energy Security Policy Program seeks to produce research and sponsor informational forums that lead to a balanced and sound national energy strategy.
