University Forum is a free public lecture series sponsored by the UNLV College of Liberal Arts and underwritten by The Jerry Kalafatis Lodge Charitable Foundation and the UNLV Foundation. Carolyn Dinshaw, professor of English at New York University, will discuss the growing popularity of gay and lesbian studies in American universities and explore the relationship between this relatively new academic field and various social movements.

We Should Never Meet: Reading from a Debut Collection of Stories
Aimee Phan, a lecturer in the English department at UNLV, will read from her debut collection of stories inspired by the historical events of Operation Babylift - the emergency evacuation of 2,000 Vietnamese and American orphans prior to the fall of Saigon.

The Civil War Letters of James E. McCafferty Jr.
Archaeologist Jeffrey Wedding and Barrick Museum Curator Alex Heindl will discuss the personal letters of James McCafferty Jr., a captain who served with the 9 th Massachusetts Regiment during the Civil War. His letters provide an interesting perspective on many of that conflict's great campaigns.
