The UNLV School of Architecture, in partnership with Klai::Juba Architects, will host three upcoming lectures at the university. The lectures, which are free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Architecture Studies Library, located within the UNLV School of Architecture Building.
"Modernism and the American Dream" is the topic of the March 28 lecture. Dana Cuff, professor and vice chair of the department of architecture and urban design at UCLA, will discuss her research into American urban development following World War II. Cuff is the past recipient of the American Institute of Architects' (AIA) Gold Medal for her book, "Architecture: The Story of Practice."
On April 19, architect Donna Kacmar will discuss her recent works. Kacmar, a visiting assistant professor from the University of Houston, has won numerous design awards, including the Houston AIA Young Architect of the Year award and two Houston AIA Design awards for her residential projects. She will present her recent architectural work, as well as her work as an educator with the University of Houston, Rice University, and Texas A&M University.
On April 26, author Hans Ibelings, widely recognized as the preeminent authority on Dutch design, will discuss his recent book, "The Artificial Landscape: Contemporary Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape Architecture in the Netherlands." Ibelings is the former curator of the Netherlands Architecture Institute.
