The College of Business American Marketing Association (AMA) club is one of eight finalists in the AMA International Case Competition. Collegiate chapters were invited to form teams to develop a written solution for a marketing challenge. Teams were challenged with developing a target marketing and segmentation plan and positioning the city of New Orleans in order to increase tourism in the hurricane-ravaged community.
Fifty-five schools nationwide entered the competition. UNLV's AMA chapter was among the eight finalists chosen. The final teams will participate in an oral competition March 29 at the AMA's 29th Annual International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. The winning team will win a share of $7,000 in cash awards including a $3,000 grand prize. The team's trip to New Orleans will be supported through donations made to the College of Business through a recently held phonathon.
The UNLV AMA chapter is open to students of all majors and provides the opportunity to network and interact with professionals, incorporate practical application of business and marketing principles, and provide assistance in professional development. It is affiliated with the national American Marketing Association and works closely with the local Las Vegas AMA professional chapter.
