The Jean Nidetch Women's Center at UNLV will be awarding $2,500 scholarships to 20 eligible freshmen who enroll as full-time students for the 1999-2000 academic year.
Both men and women are eligible for the scholarships.
To qualify, students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 at the time of application, must have overcome adversity in life, and must demonstrate financial need as determined by the UNLV Student Financial Services Office.
Applications are available at the women's center and at all area high school counseling offices.
The postmark deadline for applications and supporting materials is April 1.
