The UNLV Symphony Orchestra, conducted by artistic director Taras Krysa, performs Richard Strauss's tone poem, Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life) at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall.

The UNLV Symphony Orchestra is composed of undergraduate and graduate music majors, minors, and non-music majors. Its mission includes:
- Training music majors to become professional performers and teachers.
- Introducing non-music majors to a high level of music-making.
- Enriching the cultural life of UNLV and the Las Vegas community.
The orchestra presents as many as eight programs each season including a variety of standard symphonic orchestral repertoire, ranging from early Baroque through modern contemporary, and one complete staged opera. The final concert of each season features the student winner of the annual Solo Concerto Competition.
