UNLV is seeking children who do not speak in school or in social settings to be part of a study on the treatment of a condition known as selective mutism.
The study, which is being conducted by psychology doctoral student Jennifer Vecchio in conjunction with psychology professor Christopher Kearney, will focus on children ages 4 to 10 years.
Assessment and treatment sessions will be conducted on a sliding-scale fee basis, and parents will be expected to engage in comprehensive clinical procedures that include teacher input. Parents will be provided with assessment and treatment information.
Parents interested in having a child participate in the study should contact Vecchio at 895-3305 or at jenv1@cox.net.
