UNLV's College of Business will host its second Las Vegas Business Forum on Thursday, March 23, at noon at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel. Special guest speaker will be Gary C. Kelly, Vice Chairman of the Board and CEO of Southwest Airlines Co. The luncheon meeting is open to the public, with a cost of $40 per person.
The Las Vegas Business Forum provides a platform through which the business community can meet and hear dynamic national business leaders address issues of local, national, and international interest, and the impact these issues have on the Las Vegas business community. By introducing influential national figures to local business managers and employees, organizers expect the forum to provide a unique networking experience for business leaders in the community. " The College of Business is excited to present the forum as an educational and networking opportunity as part of our commitment to economic development for the region," said Richard Flaherty, dean of the College of Business at UNLV. "As the CEO of one of our major employers, Southwest Airlines, Gary Kelly will certainly offer some interesting insights into the airline industry and Southwest's very successful business model."
Gary Kelly oversees Southwest's financial, operational, and planning concerns. He is also a member of the Southwest Airlines Executive Planning Committee, where he makes decisions regarding sensitive issues and strategic planning for the company's direction. Kelly began his career with Southwest in 1986 as Controller. He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance in 1989, and to Executive Vice President in 2001. Kelly has been Vice Chairman and CEO since 2004.
