Las Vegas, Nev. - Simply the most outstanding jazz musician and trumpeter of his generation, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning Wynton Marsalis comes to Las Vegas for a one-night only performance as part of the UNLV Performing Arts Center New York Stage & Beyond Series. The concert is at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1 and features Marsalis and his band who have become famous for their hard-swinging style, making them favorites of audiences worldwide.
To date Marsalis has produced 33 jazz and 11 classical albums and has sold over seven million records worldwide, including three Gold Records. With his collection of standards, he has reinvigorated the jazz musician's relationship to the American popular song. His inventive interplay with melody, harmony, and rhythm--his lyrical voicing and tonal coloring assert new possibilities for the jazz ensemble and extend the vocabulary of jazz.
Tickets to Wynton Marsalis are $45, $60, and $90 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-ARTS (2787) or by visiting pac.unlv.edu. Student rush tickets are $13 each and available one hour prior to each event, based on availability and with valid student I.D. UNLV faculty and staff discounts also are available. A $1 facilities fee, in addition to the ticket price, is charged on all Performing Arts Center tickets. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Founded in 1976, the Performing Arts Center at UNLV continues to be Southern Nevada's premier performing arts venue.
