The Performing Arts Center at UNLV is pleased to present Tommy Tune and the Manhattan Rhythm Kings: Tap, Tunes, and Tails at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 23 as the first performance of the New York Stage & Beyond series. A nine-time Tony Award winner and the quintessential Broadway song-and-dance-man, Tune's big band review is unlike anything he has performed in Las Vegas before.
Reviewers rave that Tommy Tune "takes vibrant charge the second he struts on stage ... Tune and the Manhattan Rhythm Kings transform the stage into the swankiest supper club imaginable." - Entertainment Weekly
"Supple, suave, and elegant displays of virtuosity." - New York Newsday
Winner of an unprecedented nine Tony Awards, eight Drama Desk Awards, two Obie Awards, and many others, Tune has sung and danced for three U.S. Presidents, the Queen of England, and the Royal Family of Monaco. In 1991, he was inducted into the Broadway's Theatre Hall of Fame, and Hollywood followed suit three years later with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, appropriately placed directly in front of the Capezio Dancewear shop.
Tickets to Tommy Tune and the Manhattan Rhythm Kings are $35, $45, and $70 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-ARTS (2787) or by visiting UNLVTickets.com. Founded in 1976, the Performing Arts Center at UNLV continues to be Southern Nevada's premier performing arts venue. Located on the north end of the UNLV campus, the PAC hosts a variety of performances each year in two distinct series - the Charles Vanda Master Series and New York Stage & Beyond. Season tickets are still available. UNLV and KLVX Channel 10 are graciously sponsoring the 2004-2005 Season, "Stars at the Center."
