The Performing Arts Center at UNLV welcomes Sir James Galway, performing with his wife, Lady Jeanne Galway, and accompanied by pianist Philip Moll, at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 26 as part of the Charles Vanda Master Series.
Internationally regarded as both a matchless interpreter of the classical repertoire and a consummate entertainer, Galway crosses all musical boundaries with his charismatic appeal. His unique sound, superb musicianship, and dazzling virtuosity on flute have made him one of the most respected and sought-after performing artists of our time.
Galway has performed definitive treatments of masterworks by Bach, Vivaldi, and other classical composers. He has played fresh renditions of folk music from around the world and imaginative interpretations of pop hits. With 65 titles in print, he has sold more than 30 million albums and has performed with some of the world's most famous musicians, as well as the Muppets.
Tickets to the Sir James Galway performance are $50, $60, and $75 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-ARTS (2787) or by visiting UNLVTickets.com. Student rush tickets are $10 each and available one hour prior to each event, based on availability and with valid student I.D. UNLV faculty and staff discounts also are available. Founded in 1976, the Performing Arts Center at UNLV continues to be Southern Nevada's premier performing arts venue. Located on the north end of the UNLV campus, and served by a recently built parking garage, the PAC hosts a variety of performances each year in three very distinct series - the Charles Vanda Master Series, Best of the New York Stage, and The World Stage. UNLV and KLVX Channel 10 are graciously sponsoring the 2003-2004 Season, "A Season of Colors."
