The Performing Arts Center at UNLV welcomes the Warsaw Philharmonic: The National Orchestra of Poland with pianist Olga Kern at 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 13 as part of the Charles Vanda Master series. Since its inception in 1901, the 95-member orchestra has delighted audiences worldwide in more than 100 tours on five continents. Critics have called Kern, a Van Cliburn International Piano Competition winner, "brilliant and passionate."
Led by highly regarded Polish conductor Maestro Antoni Wit since 2002, the orchestra has been applauded by audiences and critics for its charismatic music making, performing at music festivals in Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Moscow, Brussels, Florence, and Athens, just to name a few.
The 29-year-old Kern, who was born into a family of musicians and began studying piano at age five, has captivated fans and critics alike with her passionately confident musicianship and vivid stage presence. She has performed in many of the world's most important venues and recorded a CD of her award-winning Cliburn competition performances.
