The UNLV Performing Arts Center presents the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, described as "a breath of fresh air" by The New York Times, at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 30 as part of the New York Stage & Beyond Series. This company of 11 classically trained dancers performs an eclectic repertoire by some of the world's foremost choreographers, including Twyla Tharp and David Parsons.
Celebrating its ninth season this year, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet performs year-round at home in Aspen and Santa Fe, and on tour throughout the United States. This special partnership between two cities that are known for their talented artistic communities creates a unique cultural product and a strong dance presence in Aspen and Santa Fe. It also has established itself as one of America's leading contemporary dance companies and made its New York City debut at The Joyce Theater. In 2004 ASFB made its international debut in Canada and France.
Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is the presenter of the Aspen Dance Festival, a five-week summer festival that brings world-class dance companies to Aspen. The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet has two official schools, one in Aspen, one in Santa Fe, and a year-round Mexican Folk Dance outreach program in Colorado.
