UNLV Opera proudly announces its upcoming performances of operas based on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice on Nov. 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall. Orfeo ed Euridice will be paired with Les Malheurs d’Orphée. Phillip Harris plays Milhaud’s Orpheus, with Lacy Burchfield and Nichole Jarlson alternating as his doomed Eurydice. In Gluck’s more familiar opera, Erin Gonzalez sings Orpheus, with Casey Dakus and Karin Hochman as Euridice. Heather Elise and Taylor Madrid play Amor/Cupid. Professor Linda Lister directs the production. Jae Ahn-Benton is the pianist for the Gluck, while the Milhaud will feature a chamber ensemble conducted by doctor of musical arts student Maya Sprouse.
There will be a pre-opera talk each night at 7 p.m. in the Rando lobby, led by doctor of musical arts student Bonita Bunt.
