Need help filling out those college financial aid forms?
For college-bound students and their parents who are struggling with financial aid applications, help is on the way. Throughout January, UNLV's office of student financial services, in conjunction with the Clark County School District, will be offering a series of financial aid workshops.
"These free workshops are open to all students and their parents who are seeking financial aid for the 1997-98 school year - not just students planning to attend UNLV," said Judy Belanger, UNLV's director of student financial services. "We know these forms can be daunting to people unfamiliar with them, and we want to help."
At the workshops, participants will learn to complete the financial aid application and will be told about funding expectations for the 1997-98 school year. People who have copies of the 1997-98 Free Application for Federal Student Aid are asked to bri ng their applications with them.
Each of the workshops is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m at a local high school. No reservations are necessary. Each session is open to anyone who would like to attend.
The workshops are scheduled as follows:
* Jan. 14, the cafeteria of the Area Technical Training Center, 444 W. Brooks Ave.
* Jan. 15, Room 254 at Valley, 2839 Burnham Ave.
* Jan. 16, the cafeteria of Las Vegas Academy, 315 S. Seventh St.
* Jan. 22, Room 116 at Chaparral, 3850 Annie Oakley Drive.
