Las Vegas, NV - Congratulations to the UNLV Department of Music Liberace Scholarship Jazz Quartet, (Otto Ehling, piano; Julian Tanaka, saxophone/clarinet; Scott Teeple, bass; and Paul Ringenbach, drums), for their winning performance in the Combo Division Competition at the 47th Annual Reno Jazz Festival this past Saturday, April 24. This quartet won last year with two different members. This year, they competed against 20 combos from some of the top music programs from the Western Region. Julian Tanaka won the "Outstanding College Performer" and Otto Ehling was awarded the distinction of the "Outstanding College Rhythm Section Performer" out of 24 colleges and universities from California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Colorado and Nevada.
