UNLV's International Gaming Institute (IGI) will host a series of seminars on casino auditing in Las Vegas this summer and fall.
Two levels of casino auditing seminars will be offered, both of which will be beneficial for gaming regulators, commissioners, senior officials with regulatory policy-making responsibilities, internal auditors, and independent accountants.
The two-day level one seminar will be held June 13-14 and October 13-14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Stan Fulton Building at UNLV. Topics to be covered include:
* Management's responsibility to internal control
* Internal audit and the regulatory process
* Currency transaction reporting
* Casino cage, slots, table games, and fraud
* Analyzing casino operations
The three-day level two seminar will also be held at the Fulton Building June 15-17 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Topics to be covered include:
* Casino internal control - a risk-based focus
* Analysis of casino financial statistics
* Slots and table games - inside the numbers
* Casino marketing - designing effective marketing programs
* Slot clubs, gaming technology, and surveillance
* The Sarbanes-Oxley Act
The primary instructor for both seminars will be industry veteran Jim Fox, a certified internal auditor and fraud examiner. Fox is the director of internal audit and control for the Las Vegas office of Jefferson Wells International and has more than 20 years of experience in the internal audit profession. The co-author of "Casino Operations Management," Fox is also a faculty member at UNLV, where he teaches auditing in the gaming industry.
The seminars range in price from $795 for the level one seminar to $1,095 for the level two seminar. Discounts are available to participants who register by the early bird deadline, which is three weeks prior to the start of the seminar.
