UNLV and the Las Vegas office of the Environmental Protection Agency will host their annual Earth Day celebration in the university's mall area from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. April 22.
More than 2,000 students from the Clark County School District are scheduled to attend the event, which has been celebrated on campus since 1990.
Environmentally conscious exhibitors will set up booths for browsing and educational purposes.
A community service award ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Alumni Amphitheater. The award presentation will be attended by members of the Nevada congressional delegation.
The theme to Earth Day 1999 is "Educating Environmental Leaders for the 21st Century." The event is free and open to the public.
