The complexities of the issue of sexual violence will be explored March 30 during a dinner theater event at UNLV.
This marks the fourth year that UNLV's Jean Nidetch Women's Center has sponsored an interactive dinner theater event to further educate the public about the issue of sexual assault.
This year's presentation, One in Five, takes its name from a statistic that says one in five women will be raped at some point in their lives.
The complex nature of sexual violence will be depicted through dramatic monologues, music, poetry, and art. UNLV students and faculty will direct, act in, and provide technical support for the presentation.
The event will take place in the ballroom of the Moyer Student Union, beginning with a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. The play is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $5, which includes both the dinner and the theater event. They may be purchased by calling the women's center at 895-4475.
Organizers of the event advise that the program will include the portrayal of adult situations and language. They further suggest that the event may not be appropriate for children under the age of 13.
