UNLV's department of psychology is looking for volunteers who wish to be part of ongoing research studies.
<strong>Bipolar I Disorder</strong>
Individuals with bipolar I disorder are sought for research examining the cognitive abilities of those with the disorder and their relatives.
The research, conducted by graduate student Linda Frantom, under the direction of Professor Daniel Allen, consists of participants performing various cognitive tasks, designed to test memory, learning, and thinking skills.
To be eligible, individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 65, primarily English speaking, have bipolar I disorder, and have a relative in the community willing to participate.
Testing will be conducted on the UNLV campus or at the individual's home, and will take approximately three hours to complete.
Individuals wishing to participate can contact Frantom at 339-6890.
<strong>Senior Citizens</strong>
Individuals over 65 years of age with no known memory impairments are needed for a research study designed to test memory and other cognitive skills. The testing will be conducted on the UNLV campus, and will consist of questionnaires and other memory-based assessments. No medication or invasive procedures are involved.
After completion of the study, which lasts approximately two hours, individuals scoring low on memory tests will be given feedback and a list of referrals for follow-up testing.
