UNLV department of dance presents the inaugural performance of "ReUnited," a virtual alumni dance concert. The concert features numerous styles of dance by 13 choreographers from across the nation.
"ReUnited" premieres with a watch party and live chat at 6 p.m. Friday, May 21, followed by a virtual after-party. The performance will be viewable on-demand May 21-23. Viewers can talk to the choreographers during the Virtual Artist Talkback at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, via Zoom.
Choreographers Showcased
- Ashley Vasquez, a music video and TV choreographer, credited for Big Bang Theory and Flipped, is presenting “Stay Low,” a contemporary dance work filmed on location in Los Angeles.
- Kristen Sholes Sullivan, an adjunct professor at Florida State College and company member for Jacksonville Dance Theatre in Jacksonville, Florida, presents “The Things They Carried.” Representing the things we hold onto and the weight they leave when we let go, she embraces stunning production techniques during this theatrical performance.
- Lonnie Chaney III, choreographer and company director with Nicky Karosy for The Village Dance Collective, focuses on team building and unification. “The Truth” characterizes the pulse of the nation, the joy of intergenerational movement, and collaboration.
- Heather Harper, founder and artistic managing director for Harper Continuum Dance Theatre in New York City, debuts the first installment of “As We Breathe,” a dance film recognizing the spirit of endurance and perseverance during this significant moment in history.
