The UNLV Child School Refusal and Anxiety Disorders Clinic is looking for school aged children and teens to take part in one of a pair of studies set to begin on the UNLV campus this spring.
Doctoral student Jennifer Vecchio is seeking children between the ages of six and 10 who do not speak at school or in social settings to take part in an assessment and treatment study. Interested parents should contact Vecchio at 895-3305.
The clinic is also conducting a study on school-aged children and teens plagued by obsessive thoughts and compulsive rituals, such as excessive hand washing, counting, and checking. Interested parents should contact Christopher Kearney at 895-0183.
Fees are based on each family's ability to pay. The assessment procedure consists of interviews and questionnaires and typically lasts about two hours. Treatment options are discussed after the initial evaluation.
