New Student Welcome
Date/Time: Friday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Location: Cox Pavilion
Description: UNLV President Neal Smatresk will officially welcome new students and their parents to the university. More than 3,000 new students and their families will be on campus for the New Student Welcome.
UNLV Fall Semester Begins
Date: Monday, Aug. 24 at 8 a.m.
Description: Throughout the day, UNLV staff will run "ask me" booths to answer students' questions. At noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., students can take a tour of the campus to help them find their classrooms. The tour leaves from the Pida Plaza "ask me" booth near Alumni Amphitheater.
"Premier UNLV"
Date/Time: Thursday, Aug. 27, at 8:15 p.m.
Location: North Field (east of the UNLV Student Union, near the Lied Library)
Description: An annual tradition featuring fireworks and the formation of a giant illuminated "UNLV" created by hundreds of UNLV students and alumni with flashlights.
Media: Arrive at UNLV's Beam Hall at 8:15 p.m. in order to be escorted to the building's roof where pictures can be taken. Park in front of Student Union off of Maryland Parkway and Harmon Avenue.
