UNLV Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Michael Bowers released the following statement today regarding the death of UNLV history professor Hal K. Rothman:
"The UNLV community was saddened to learn today about the death of Distinguished Professor of History Hal Rothman. He was a beloved professor, a prolific scholar, and an irreplaceable member of the Southern Nevada community. During his 14 years at UNLV, Hal's dedication to teaching, research, and community service inspired countless students and colleagues and reflected his determination to make UNLV a better university and a more integral part of the Las Vegas community. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time."
A campus memorial service is being planned and details will be announced at a later date.
