This fall's University Forum Lecture Series will begin Aug. 29 with a slide-illustrated presentation on "Little-Known Travel Treasures in the Las Vegas Area."
David Bert, host of KNPR's "Along the Way," will share some of the best-kept travel secrets within a short drive of Las Vegas, including China Ranch in the Amargosa Valley, Beaver Dam State Park, and Great Basin National Park.
Bert will not only describe how to find these areas but will also discuss their history, flora, and fauna.
On Sept. 8, Gerald Goldstein, a psychiatry professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, will lecture on "Childhood Developmental Disorders in Adults."
In his lecture, Goldstein will discuss autism and learning disabilities in adults, focusing on identification, treatment, and management of these disorders.
Both lectures begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History. All University Forum lectures are free and open to the public.
The University Forum lecture series is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and is underwritten by the UNLV Foundation. For more information on the series, call 895-3401 or send an E-mail to: forum@nevada.edu.
