Tickets are no longer available for the Thursday, April 6 lecture by Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison at UNLV, but "standby" access will be available the evening of the event for patrons without tickets. The special address is the first public offering of the Black Mountain Institute at UNLV. More than 1,800 free tickets have been distributed for the event.
"We are extremely gratified by the community's enthusiasm for this event," said university President Carol C. Harter, who upon retirement from the presidency in June will become Executive Director of the Black Mountain Institute. "The response to this rare opportunity to hear from one of the world's most celebrated authors has been truly overwhelming."
The lecture is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and will be held in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall at UNLV. A standby line for patrons without tickets will form at the south door of the hall. Patrons will be accommodated on a space available, first-come, first-served basis.
Parking for the lecture will be available in the university's north parking garage and surrounding surface lots. All patrons are encouraged to arrive early for this special event.
