More than two dozen books on surveying were donated to UNLV's James R. Dickinson Library recently by the Southern Nevada chapter of the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors.
The books primarily concern surveying methods and land law, according to William Cuddy, who served as chairman of the chapter's reference book drive.
Cuddy said the organization decided to raise money to buy the books after realizing that UNLV did not have many surveying books in its library.
Matthew Simon, UNLV's dean of libraries, said the donation helps flesh out the library's collection on the subject of surveying and will be used by members of the public.
"We are conscious of our role of serving not just the academic community, but also the professional community," Simon said.
