The Nevada Council on Economic Education (NVCEE) and the UNLV Center for Economic Education have announced that the Spring 2005 state Stock Market Simulation game will begin Feb. 21 and run through April 29.
The simulation, primarily supported by the Secretary of State's office, is intended to introduce students to the economic lessons provided by the free market system and gives students an early look at personal finance.
The competition is offered free to all Nevada students, grades 5 - 12, and their teachers.
Registration for the event is open to teachers only, with a single day mandatory training session for all new applicants to be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 5 or Feb. 12 at the Community College of Southern Nevada High Tech Center at Western High School.
Rules, classroom lesson plans, and a full range of research and quotation links will be available on the game site. For more information or to register, contact John Mundy, executive director of the NVCEE, at 363-4740 or jmundy@ccmail.nevada.edu.
