The Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC) and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce are hosting a workshop designed to teach business owners how to protect themselves and their businesses from counterfeiting, credit card fraud, identity fraud, and payroll fraud.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sergeant Bob Sebby and LVMPD Lieutenant Steve Franks will lead the workshop, which is set for 1-4 p.m. Jan. 26 at the offices of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, 3720 Howard Hughes Parkway.
Sebby and Franks have a combined total of 34 years of experience with Metro and have worked in the divisions of narcotics, intelligence, and financial crimes.
"I have eight detectives who each handle close to 175 cases of financial fraud each month," Sebby said. "This type of crime can be costly and can take years to clear up. Anyone with a personal computer can commit these crimes, but there are some simple steps for protecting yourself and your business from these criminals."
Registration for the workshop is $30. For more information, call Kaye Schwer at the NSBDC at 734-7575.
