The UNLV Athletics Department has announced plans to host a Sweet 16 send-off for the men's basketball team on Wednesday March 21. The team, which will leave for St. Louis on Wednesday at 1 p.m., defeated Georgia Tech in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament last Friday, then went on to upset second-seeded Wisconsin on Sunday. The two wins mark the first victories for the Runnin' Rebels in the NCAA Tournament since 1991. Next up on the schedule is third-seeded Oregon on Friday, March 23 at approximately 6:40 p.m. PT at the Edward Jones Dome.
The send-off will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the White Lot of the Thomas and Mack Center Parking Lots on Wednesday. Fans are encouraged to come and show their support for the team as they make their way to the Midwest Regional in St. Louis.
On Friday, the UNLV Athletics Department, in conjunction with UNLV CSUN Student Government, will host an official game-viewing party at The Sporting House Bar and Grill located at 721 Mall Ring Circle in Henderson. Tip time for the Runnin' Rebels vs. Oregon game is approximately 6:40 p.m. PT, but fans are encouraged to arrive early to get a seat. The Sporting House boasts 14,000 sq. ft. with a full bar, lounge seating and 53 flat screen televisions.
