Improvements to the large UNLV parking lot bordering Cottage Grove Avenue on the northeastern section of campus will temporarily close portions of the lot beginning Wednesday.
The work is part of a project that eventually will result in an additional 450 parking spaces for students and other users of that area.
The portion of the project that begins Wednesday involves pavement repair and demolition of islands and will be done in phases.
Portions of the lot will be closed as follows:
* Wednesday and Thursday (Aug. 28 and 29), the section of the lot north of Ham Concert Hall.
* Friday (Aug. 30), the section of the lot north of the Beam Engineering Complex.
* Sept. 2-3, the section of the lot north of White Hall.
While the work is taking place, alternate parking will be available at the Thomas & Mack Center and in the Flamingo access lot located north of the Rod Lee Bigelow Health Sciences Building.
Later this month, recoating and restriping of the Cottage Grove lot will take place.
