LAS VEGAS--December 9, 2009-- Three finalists have been selected by members of the search committee and UNLV President Neal Smatresk for the position of director of intercollegiate athletics. In no particular order, the finalists are as follows:
Jim Livengood, director of athletics, University of Arizona
Livengood has been the director of athletics at the University of Arizona since 1994. Prior to this post, he was director of athletics at Washington State University (1987 - 1993), director of athletics at Southern Illinois University (1985 - 1987), associate director of athletics, development and public relations at Washington State University (1980 - 1985), and held several high school coaching positions (1969 - 1980). Livengood earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Brigham Young University in 1968.
John Johnson, senior associate athletic director, Washington State University
Johnson has been the senior associate athletics director at Washington State University since 2004. Earlier experience includes serving as director of intercollegiate athletics (1997 - 2004) and senior associate director of athletics (1997) at Weber State University, director of intercollegiate athletics (1993 - 1997) and in various associate athletics director roles (1985 - 1993) at Eastern Washington University. Johnson earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration in 1982 and a master's degree in business administration in 1984, both from Eastern Washington University.
Bill Moos, former director of intercollegiate athletics, University of Oregon
Moos served as director of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Oregon from 1995 - 2007. Earlier experience includes serving as director of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Montana (1990 - 1995), associate athletic director at Washington State University (1988 - 1990), and as director of development for intercollegiate athletics/assistant athletic director at Washington State University (1982 - 1988). Moos earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Washington State University in 1973.
The intercollegiate athletics director search process, including additional interviews with the finalists, continues. Accordingly?, no date has been set for an official announcement of who will be the next athletics chief at UNLV. Official news on the search will come either directly from UNLV President Neal Smatresk and/or through the UNLV Office of Public Affairs.
