Michael Graham has been named deputy state director for the Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC).
In that capacity, he will manage the center's statewide environmental programs and its five Southern Nevada offices, which are based at UNLV, at the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, at Nevada Power, in North Las Vegas, and in Henderson. The center offers business assistance to new and existing small businesses throughout the state.
"This is a great opportunity for the UNLV College of Business and the NSBDC in terms of their mutual programs, projects, and business and community partnerships throughout the state," Graham said. "My job will be to assist the Southern Nevada offices and environmental programs in delivering a wide variety of resources to Clark County and statewide businesses."
Commenting on the selection of Graham, NSBDC State Director Sam Males said, "With Michael's leadership, we will be able to better serve small businesses in the fastest-growing section of the country with all the resources available through the NSBDC, such as our business environmental services, counseling, and technology assistance program."
Richard Flaherty, dean of UNLV's College of Business, said, "The outreach capacity of the program will be tremendously strengthened by someone with Michael's business experience and insight into the university system. He will do an incredibly effective job at providing support to the Southern Nevada small business community and statewide environmental initiatives."
Graham, who has more than 20 years of management, fund-raising, and capital acquisition experience, has been the director of development for the Business College at UNR since 1994. While in Reno, he was president of the Sierra chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives and a member of the city of Reno Financial Advisory Board. He remains a member of the university's College of Extended Studies Non-Profit Certification Board.
He now lives in Las Vegas with his wife, Ann.
