The Nevada Conservatory Theatre (NCT) presents Federico GarcÃa Lorca’s Blood Wedding March 8-17 in the Black Box Theatre. Allegra Libonati directs.
On the morning of her arranged wedding, a young bride is visited by the former love of her life. Old passions of love and hate are rekindled when the two lovers escape together. Can their fervent ardor overcome the strictures of Catholic Spanish society? Through the lyrically haunting landscape of poet Federico GarcÃa Lorca’s moon-soaked imagination, we see the penalties and the pleasures of rebelling against the status quo.
Libonati is a freelance director for theater and opera. She has worked the past nine years at the American Repertory Theater as resident director, she was the assistant director on the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Hair, and has directed for theater companies both nationally and internationally. As a lover of music, circus, magic, dance, masks, and puppets, she often incorporates these theatrical elements into her work.
