An informational meeting about UNLV's gerontology certificate program will be held at noon April 28 in the great hall of the Thomas Beam Engineering Complex.
The meeting is free and open to the public, but space is limited. In addition to discussing gerontology certificate requirements, program representatives will also discuss career opportunities in the fast-growing field of aging services.
"As our society grows older, there is a rapidly expanding need for people who are trained to serve older adults. The gerontology certificate will help to prepare people to do just that," said Ann McDonough, director of UNLV's gerontology program.
In order to obtain UNLV's gerontology certificate, students must complete 24 academic credits in a variety of academic disciplines, including the social sciences, theatre, marketing, nursing, leisure studies, kinesiology, counseling, nutrition, and health care administration.
The certificate may be earned by itself or in conjunction with a degree.
