WHAT: Hispanic Heritage Month opening ceremony, marking the beginning of a month-long calendar of events. The free event featuring live music and food will be hosted by KVBC news anchor Maria Silva and Telemundo news anchor Brenda Macias.

DETAILS: Hispanic Heritage Month highlights and celebrates the history, culture,
and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to the Spanish-
speaking nations of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. It is celebrated from September 15 through October 15 nationwide.
UNLV's Hispanic Heritage Month programs are designed to educate the community about the contributions that Latina/o people have made to our academic community and beyond. Other events this month include: family night at a UNLV soccer game, salsa lessons, and various lectures by university Latina/o professors.
