Two former White House Fellows from the Las Vegas area -- Police Captain Dennis Cobb, a UNLV alumnus, and former news anchor Karen Galatz -- will host an informational meeting about the White House Fellows program at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in UNLV's Moyer Student Union, Room 202. The meeting is free and open to the public.

White House Fellowships are aimed at men and women who are out of school and working in their chosen professions. Fellows are assigned to year-long paid positions in the offices of Cabinet secretaries and senior White House staff. Fellows also participate in an education program of speakers and travel designed to facilitate their emergence as national leaders. There are no age restrictions, but the program was created to give persons an experience of the federal government early in their careers.

Applications are due Feb. 1, 2001. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Employees of the federal government are not eligible unless they are career military personnel.
