The Nevada Small Business Development Center and the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce will host a workshop exploring human resources issues for small businesses at 8 a.m.-noon June 29.
The workshop will be held at the offices of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, 3720 Howard Hughes Parkway.
The workshop is designed to inform small-business owners of the changing laws and legal ramifications regarding hiring and firing practices and interviewing techniques.
Among the industry experts speaking at the workshop will be Michelle Nicholl, director of human resources at Big Dog's Hospitality Group, who will address "Performance Evaluations"; Jane Whisner, operations manager for the Eastridge Group of Staffing, who will cover "Interviewing Techniques"; and Carol Cook, operations manager for Gates McDonald, who will talk about the "Progressive Disciplinary Process."
The cost is $30 per person. The registration deadline is June 24. Also, arrangements can be made for persons with disabilities if requested 72 hours prior to the event.
