UNLV's International Gaming Institute (IGI) is pleased to announce that the International Association of Certified Surveillance Professionals (IACSP) will hold its monthly surveillance training and its first day-long seminar in the Stan Fulton Building on the UNLV campus Sept. 19.

The IACSP seminar topics will include "Hole Card/Top Card" taught by Ron Buono, executive director of surveillance at the MGM Grand, and "Dealing Craps, Level 1" by Mike Thomson, director of surveillance at the New Frontier.

The IACSP offers training to professionals currently employed in the surveillance industry. Credits from this training can be accumulated toward industry certification through the organization.

"As our profession accepts greater responsibilities and becomes more involved with securing the property from internal and external threats, it is necessary that we increase our professionalism, knowledge and skills," said Derk Boss, vice president of surveillance at the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino and founder of the IACSP.

The IACSP is the first professional organization to offer educational opportunities to surveillance directors, managers, or agents for improving their knowledge and skills.

"We are excited to have the IACSP meeting in our facility on a monthly basis," said Ed Polivka, managing director for the UNLV International Gaming Institute. "This combined effort brings two entities that can work together on surveillance education and training. This arrangement will enable the surveillance professionals to be trained in our state-of-the-art gaming and surveillance lab."

The UNLV International Gaming Institute is a leader in the gaming industry, offering seminars and training in surveillance, casino auditing and regulatory matters for several years.
