Approximately 65 high school sophomores from around the state are expected to gather at UNLV June 15-18 for the Nevada Leadership Seminar sponsored by the Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation.
"Motivating Tomorrow's Leaders Today" will be the theme of this year's conference. This marks the 23rd year that the foundation has hosted such a seminar in Nevada.
Panel sessions, keynote speakers, management simulations, and small-group discussions will challenge the student participants to explore the difficult issues facing today's leaders and to question what the future will hold for them as leaders of tomorrow.
Participants are chosen by their high schools. There is no cost to the students, their families, or their schools.
UNLV provides free housing for the students attending the conference. Additionally, UNLV staff serve as counselors for the conference.
Two students from the Nevada conference will be selected to represent the state at the World Leadership Congress to be conducted July 21-29 in Washington, D.C.
