Evolution of life on earth will be the topic of an April 19 public lecture being sponsored by UNLV's department of biological sciences. The lecture is part of the Juanita Greer White Distinguished Lecture Series.
Andrew H. Knoll, professor in the department of earth and planetary sciences at Harvard University , will present "Life on a Small Planet" at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of White Hall on the UNLV campus. The event is free but tickets are required. Tickets will be available in the department of biological sciences beginning April 12.
Knoll, considered one of the world's foremost paleontologists, will discuss the evolution of life on earth, the evolution of the earth's surface environments, and the relationship between the two. Knoll's lecture is adapted from his book, "Life on a Young Planet: The First Three Billion Years of Evolution on Earth."
