GES Exposition Services last week donated $10,000 to UNLV for scholarships.
Paul Mullen, the company's CEO, presented the donation to UNLV President Carol C. Harter.
This is the second consecutive year that GES, the largest general contractor in the trade show event industry in North America, has donated $10,000 to the university for scholarships. GES has its headquarters in Las Vegas. The first donation was used to provide four scholarships to students in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration who are concentrating their studies in the convention industry field, said Patti Shock, chair of the Hotel College's department of tourism and convention administration. A like number of scholarships will be funded through this year's donation, she said.
"We're grateful to GES for their support of our hotel administration students," Shock said. "Receiving $2,500 in scholarship money is a major help to any student. Additionally, we feel that GES' funding of scholarships reflects the company's support of what we here at the Hotel College are doing to help prepare the exposition services leaders of the future."
