The Galleria at Sunset - located at 1300 W. Sunset Road in Henderson - will host UNLV Day on Sunday, Oct. 30. From noon to 4 p.m., UNLV will have information and displays available from many of its departments - from admissions to alumni to athletics - for interested students, parents, community partners and athletic fans. There will also be fun activities for kids introducing them to UNLV and higher education.
"UNLV is a vital partner in our community and it's important that we let people know of the opportunities that we offer," said UNLV President Neal Smatresk. "This will be a great way to find out more about becoming a Rebel and for those who are to celebrate with us."
The first 200 people to visit the UNLV ticketing table on the ground floor of the Galleria at Sunset on October 30 - starting at noon - will receive a Rebel vanity case. Giveaways and drawings will also be held during the event. Representatives from UNLV Athletics will also be on hand to meet and greet fans.
There will also be entertainment throughout the afternoon from UNLV's cheerleaders, the Vegas Vanguard Entertainment Drumline and SweetSpot Entertainment 15-year-old recording artist LexRox, who recently released "Runnin' with the Rebels."
"We're excited to partner with UNLV and help spread the word about the great things happening at the university," said Heather Valera, the director of marketing for the Galleria at Sunset. "It should be a fun day for the entire family as we celebrate our community's university."
Anyone wearing UNLV Rebel gear will also receive free admission that day into FunTown FrightFest, a carnival hosted by Peoples Autism Foundation located in the south parking lot of the Galleria at Sunset.
UNLV celebrates Homecoming Week October 31 to November 5.
