The third annual "Eye on Women Expo" - a day full of activities that specifically address contemporary women's issues - is scheduled for April 5.
Sponsored by UNLV's Jean Nidetch Women's Center and television station KLAS-TV 8, the event will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Stardust Hotel and Casino. Admission is $5. Proceeds will benefit the women's center re-entry program, which provides assistance to adults who are returning to college.
The "Eye on Women Expo" begins with hourly personal and professional development seminars. Some of the topics include breast health, sexual assault and violence prevention and awareness, interview skills, resume writing, surviving the downsizing syndrome, career opportunities you have never thought of, and dressing for success.
As part of the expo, Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa will recognize the recipients of the Southern Nevada Women's Role Model Award.
Throughout the day, KLAS-TV 8 personalities will be on hand, as will some soap opera stars, who will sign autographs and answer questions. Also, Macy's will present a fashion show featuring the latest spring and summer fashions.
More than 40 exhibitors will be present and will give demonstrations. Drawings for free prizes will be held every 15 minutes.
