"Garment Cleaning: Now and the Future" will be the topic of a seminar offered in December.
Presented by the Nevada Small Business Development Center's Business Environmental Program at UNLV, the seminar is scheduled for 7-9 p.m., Dec. 9, at the Tropicana Hotel. The seminar is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, call 734-7575 or send an e-mail to schwerj@nevada.edu.
Darrell Soyars, an air quality engineer with the Business Environmental Program in Reno, will conduct the seminar.
Kevin Dick, the program manager in Reno, said the seminar will provide "cutting-edge, state-of-the-art information." Information will be provided on perchloroethylene (perc) cleaning, petroleum-based (hydrocarbon) wet garment cleaning, and the environmental and health and safety issues related to garment cleaning.
"This seminar is just one example of how public and private agencies can work together to raise awareness and competitiveness of small business in a changing marketplace," said John Scott, district diector for the Small Business Administration in Nevada. "These partnerships focusing on small business improvement not only help the small business person, they also ensure that businesses provide safe working conditions for employees and the public."
