The Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery and UNLV department of art are proud to announce the opening of the exhibition "Block 17" — a celebration of artists of African heritage living in the Las Vegas area.
The exhibition is a diaspora of sorts showcasing the artwork of a variety of artists ranging from traditional and representational to contemporary and boundary-challenging. It's a salute to the depth and diversity of the African and African American artists' community here in the valley.
Participating artists include: Dayo Adelaja, Florence Baker-Wood, Harold Bradford, Sylvester Collier, Lolita Develay, Ashley Hairston Doughty, Mariah GW, Brent Holmes, Q’Shaundra James, Chase McCurdy, Ashanti McGee, Eyob Mergia, Landry Randriamandroso, Vicki Richardson, Miguel Rodriguez, Sloane Siobhan, Lance Smith, and Joseph Watson.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. Donna Beam Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.; closed Sundays and holidays.
