UNLV's new master's program in construction management has received accreditation from the American Council for Construction Education.
The Louisiana-based organization granted the program a full five-year accreditation that will last until July 31, 2004.
"This accreditation is important because it validates that the program meets industry standards," said engineering professor John Gambatese, who is serving as director of the new program.
"Additionally, it is something that prospective employers or other schools may look at when considering a graduate's application."
The program will prepare students to obtain management positions on major construction projects such as those involving the building of hotels, freeways, and flood control facilities.
