Nancy J. Uscher, dean of the UNLV College of Fine Arts, is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to support the arts in higher education and throughout Las Vegas.
"The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has generously offered to award some of our very deserving students with monetary prizes that serve to recognize, reward, and encourage innovative thinking in the arts," said Uscher. "We couldn't be more pleased, and we thank The Cosmopolitan for its forward-thinking, proactive stance on encouraging the arts in higher education and in Las Vegas."
The awards are as follows:
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Change-Maker in the Arts Award

$5,000 awarded in 2019 and $5,000 awarded in 2020 to one student.
This competitive award would identify an imaginative student who is truly innovative in changing the world.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Community Arts Fellows

Two $1,000 fellowships to be awarded in 2019.

Two Community Arts Fellows — annual fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students to go into schools, community centers, homeless shelters, hospitals, and similar organizations to demonstrate how the arts can be a catalyst for social change.
“Student enrichment is a pillar within our Las Vegas community that we continually strive to emphasize and encourage,” said Daniel Espino, chief people officer of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. “With art as a major proponent of The Cosmopolitan’s distinct culture, and through our partnership with UNLV, we look forward to further bolstering students through programs that strive to make a difference.”
