Join the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art 12 - 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, for a day of all-ages art exploration and hands-on creativity organized by Dan Hernandez, Barrick Museum of Art education and programming assistant and department of art BFA senior. Participants are invited to create zines, murals, microscope drawings, and illustrations in a range of media. Listen to live cello music by Kayla Quijano while enjoying coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks during a day of belonging and making. Free. All materials are provided.
Create, Connect, Explore is inspired by Hernandez's commitment to creating a space of belonging for families in the arts and higher education. This event is a culmination of his final project for the Barrick Museum of Art ART489 Internship.

Explore and create with the , UNLV’s chapter for college campus women in STEM. Use pocket microscopes to explore the unseen and then draw your discoveries.
1 - 4 p.m. | Petri Dish Eyeglasses
An all-ages craft based on the mural work in "​Connective Tissue"​ by Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya.
1 - 4 p.m. | Comic Strip Workshop with Jean Munson
Create your own artwork with UNLV instructor and local artist Jean Munson as she demonstrates the basics of illustration and comic strip design and narrative.
1- 4 p.m. | Create a Mural with Sage
Join Las Vegas artist Sage (aka Theresheis) to learn her process as you draw, cut, and paste your art and add it to a new mural.
1 - 4 p.m. | Create a Zine with Starshine Christian
Join local Zinester Starshine as she teaches you about zines, and guides you in creating your own.
1 - 1:45 p.m. | Learning from Young Artists Series
Create collage art with 9-year-old local artist Bailey Douglas. All materials are provided and you’ll have a piece of art to take home with you.
2 - 2:45 p.m. | Learning from Young Artists Series
Learn to paint with 14-year-old local artist Lola Hernandez. All materials are provided and you’ll have a piece of art to take home with you.
4 p.m. | Music in the Museum
Experience the beauty of the cello performed by UNLV student Kayla Quijano.

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is located in the heart of the UNLV campus. The museum is easily accessed from the west side of campus at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and University Center Drive. Drive east on East Harmon Ave until the road enters the campus and terminates in a parking lot. The museum will be on your right, next to a desert landscape garden.

Parking
Visitors may park in metered, staff and student spots free of charge after 7 p.m. on weekdays, 1 p.m. on Fridays, and all day Saturday. Daily, weekly, or monthly permits can be purchased from parking and transportation services. Metered parking spaces for visitors can be found in the parking lot outside the Barrick’s entrance, along East Harmon Avenue, and in the lot behind the Lied Library. Other metered green zones are available in the and parking areas throughout campus.
