Nevada has the second highest rate of substance abuse disorders in the nation, but the lowest number of professionals – just 11 for every 1,000 residents – to treat people suffering with these disorders. Since 2008, more Clark County residents have died each year from opioid overdoses than from incidents with firearms or traffic accidents.
The inaugural Southern Nevada Substance Use & Behavioral Health Summit will bring professionals and students to the table to learn about current efforts and available resources, to form interagency collaborations, and to spark new ideas to address this critical public health issue.

The event is sponsored by The UNLV Lincy Institute’s Southern Nevada Addictive Disorders Training Project in partnership with Nevada HIDTA, the Nevada Statewide Coalition Partnership, PACT Coalition, the Southern Nevada Health District, and the Huntridge Family Clinic.
Planning partners include WestCare, Bridge Counseling Associates, the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, Nyla Christian Life Inspired, and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
